![]() ![]() ![]() Make sure to backup any data you don't want to part with, pictures/videos etc, sync accounts/browsers with the 'cloud' so if the drive does fail you at least have something. Keep a note of the 176 reallocated sectors, if they start to go up then time to replace the drive quick, if they stay the same then you have a little more time to think about replacing. How quick should you replace the drive? that is anyone's guess as the bad sectors could have been caused over a long period of time (as there are 17,339 power on hours, about half the life of a typical HDD), or they could have started to happen in a short period of time, like a few weeks or months, ideally you should replace it asap as there are a lot of bad sectors on the platter which could be caused by a defective read head or the disk/platter. It probably is time to replace the drive, they usually have around 200 spare sectors for bad sectors on the disk (this will slow read/writes down). I only mention that because I know a shock can damage a hard drive, although this computer does have some sort of protection against that. It has fallen off my bed 2-3 times onto carpet not much softer than wood, landing on its left edge while open and causing some slight damage to the touchpad and screen bezel. The computer was bought brand new in May 2015. System info: Lenovo T540p running 64-bit Windows 7 SP1. I'd appreciate help from people more knowledgeable than me. Nothing suggests that it's anything but healthy. Is this drive failing? I've had zero trouble with it. Screenshot here, in case it's useful, and I can provide more if they're wanted. However, the figures given by CrystalDiskInfo do worry me. As /u/Mighty_Miro_WD suggested in there, I ran a quick and extended test with Data Lifeguard Diagnostic, and the drive passed both of them. I found this thread from last year that was very helpful to me. What came up was a bit worrying, especially after I did some research. So, I just ran CrystalDiskInfo 7.1.1 on my hard drive for the first time, having never heard of the tool until a few hours ago. ![]()
